Chain Link Fence Calculator
A chain link fence calculator finds the parts for a chain link run: line posts (about every 10 feet), terminal posts at ends and corners, the top rail, the chain link mesh by length, and the tension and fitting hardware. Enter your fence length and height below to get the parts list.
Enter the fence length to see the chain link parts.
How Do You Calculate Chain Link Fence?
To calculate chain link, space line posts about every 10 feet (wider than wood fence posts), add terminal posts at each end, corner and gate, and run the top rail and mesh the full fence length. A 100 foot straight run needs about 9 line posts, 2 terminal posts, 100 feet of top rail and 100 feet of mesh. The calculator counts line and terminal posts from your length and corners, plus concrete for the posts.
What Is the Difference Between Line and Terminal Posts?
Line posts are the lighter intermediate posts along the fence, while terminal posts are the heavier posts at ends, corners and gates that bear the tension of the stretched mesh. Terminal posts are thicker and set in more concrete. Counting them correctly matters because they use different parts: the calculator separates line and terminal posts so you order the right hardware for each.
